Today is definitely so far the hottest day of the year as temperatures here in the South East hit a gorgeous 27°c. As this was forecast last week the forecasters are patting themselves on the back and every newspaper you open has stories of what you should do on a day like today. Funny though hardly any mention anything about taking all your clothes off. Surely clothes in all their glory are only used to keep warm and any weather that is too warm is not good for the body’s own built in cooling system. You have to laugh at some of the reasons, some writers put down…they are to be honest utter nonsense….people in all honesty really just do what other people do….for the most part.
“Clothes are a part of our identity…..Clothes differentiate men and women. The female body is covered to evoke interest among men and create an aura of mystery….. If there were no clothes then there would have been no mystery or interest in uncovering or baring the female body parts….It is true that clothes have some practical functions as well……Clothes are also associated with personality and beauty. People wear costly, branded clothes to look elite and stylish. Uniforms are also clothes used to identify members of a particular group and their position. From a necessity clothes have evolved into a way of showing off wealth and opulence.” – Anupam Jolly (http://www.why.do/)
Then you read more passages and go down a different road
“Why do we wear clothes ?” This is an interesting question, and we can find the answer in the bible….(heavens – ed.)
“Do you realize that the meaning of clothing goes back to the book of genesis. “Adam and Eve were naked to begin with, before there was sin in the world. God gave clothes to them later, after they sinned.Unto Adam and also his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins and clothed them”….” Why did God do this ? “we’re told that “without the shedding of blood there is no remission” “You see, when we understand that sin distorts nakedness and that men and women were created to respond to each other in particular ways, it also means that there is a standard of clothing which must be in accord with a moral basis as to why clothes were given in the first place”
Oh dear….the real truth is probably that people got shy or modest and then some other person thought “I could make a killing here”… in money terms and there you have it.
Personally I think there’s nothing better on a scorching day than taking your clothes off or better still..not putting any clothes on in the first place. You don’t get all hot and sweaty and you can remain in the shade with the slight breeze (if there is any) slowly cooling you down all over your body.
It makes good sense….even go for a picnic !
Why not go Skinny Dipping ? Skinny dipping is not for ravishing your acquaintances’ naked forms with your eyes. Skinny dipping is about enjoying the pleasant “Water is everywhere!” In the early Georgian era, when sea bathing was the height of fashion and good health, swimming was always done naked. Indeed the curative powers of the plunge were thought to be diluted by the use of swimming dresses and costumes. Men, in particular, were expected to swim naked, albeit at their own segregated beaches, while the ladies tended to enter the water more discreetly, with the help of a bathing machine. Nowadays swimming costumes are the norm, but there is no law against skinny dipping.
So if you read any articles or have people giving you advice on what to do when its hot say to them
” You didn’t mention taking your clothes off…all of your clothes !” that’s the more sensible thing to say and do in the hot weather if you can. Also mention that it “isn’t illegal either” (in the UK) unless you are intentionally trying to shock people ! ”

I hate wearing swimwear. July 11 Celebrating Haulover Nude Beach’s 24th Anniversary will be a great no swimwear event that I am attending. Can’t wait

I question whether the author of the quote has actually read Genesis. God provided clothing for protection. There is mention of nudity being a problem or of clothing to “protect modesty”, and what a stupid phrase that last one is. A lot of clothing is all about exhibitionism.

Quite true Malcolm 😊 not being religious myself I didnt check where he’s coming from. Being American he could be one of those over the top religious geeks.
