The idea is one for the Macmillan nurses charity, where you abstain from drinking and donate the proceeds to the charity.
As I’m running short of money and I have no job, for me its just a token gesture of abstinence, from the 30th September until 29th October when the club has its annual Halloween 👻 and Firework 🎆 party. So far (its now been 23 days) It’s been to be honest a piece of cake, only occasionally have I yearned for a nice cold pint of Guinness. I’m not a huge drinker, just a sociable one, enjoying a pint or two, a couple of times a week.Changing tact slightly too,October is a month where we have to change our lifestyle of the past seven months and retreat indoors, where the carefree naked days of summer seem like a distant memory.
About a week ago was the first club work party of the winter and in pleasant conditions (i.e. Not cold or wet) we managed to dig out the overgrown drainage ditch by the road as well as finding the drainage pipe leading across it. It was a tireless job but hopefully it will aid the drainage and stop the grounds flooding as it has in past winters.
Other jobs to do too, included securing the boundaries, pruning the trees and of course, picking up the many thousands (millions ?) of leaves, that have already fallen. For us its a case of then finding ways to spend our time during the dark days (the clocks go back next weekend) of winter, until the clocks change again on March 27th next year, bringing a little light relief (get it..Groan). Its at times like these you wish you lived in a warmer climate nearer the equator. We’ve got concerts to look forward tothough and Christmas 🎅 (groan) but I suppose we’ll spend our free time now, out with the cameras recording the changing of the seasons.
Meanwhile the constant battle to find a job goes on,the battle to make people see that austerity is not the way to go goes on and also the educating of people to the joys of naturism also continues.
