We watched a film last night called “Into the Wild” and the soundtrack featured some cool music by artists stateside, which reminded me very much of a solo artist I liked very much in the 1990 her name Juliana Hatfield.
In 1992 I took a punt and went to buy her latest album “Becomes what you are” after rave reviews in the now defunct. “Select Magazine”. Having put the album on this morning in the car I realised how profound the title “Becomes what you are” really is. Added to that some of the tracks are very much in line with my thinking on nature and the environment. I’ve heard the statement “just be yourself” so much. It sounds like an amazing thing to do, and I have heard people wish many times that they could just do that. In my quest for answers I’ve found that it is very much possible to just be yourself,by thinking things through to their conclusions. A person who is a nasty to others and a person who is afraid of social situations are, in actuality, not being themselves. Their real self is just being covered up with conditioned, fear-based thinking.
After many years I have found that our true self is the person who we really are when we let go of all of the stories, labels, and judgments that we have placed upon ourselves. It is who we naturally are without the masks and pretentiousness. Why should you not become what you are or be who you are and not be lambasted for it ?
The shootings at a gay nightclub in Florida shows that there is still so much discrimination around and also far to much bigotry coming from people who think their way is the only way. Why shouldn’t people be who or what they want and behave how they want providing they don’t upset others or break laws that are written to keep adults and children safe. Whether your gay, straight, like to wear outrageous clothes or even don’t like wearing clothes at all why should it matter or why should people be treated differently ?
