If the weather is poor at a lunchtime(which is only 30 minutes) or like now before work, when the traffic is flowing and not like sometime snarled up and queuing everywhere. I take my inspiration from different sources the news (local, national and worldwide),the weather, climate early mornings or late evening. The time of year and of course music today’s for example coming from Neil Young’s self titled first solo album and 1980s ditty Hawks & Doves which is very country and just on the edge of my listening spectrum. Hawks & Doves harks back to the days when albums were produced by artists every year and were released regardless. It fairly short, can’t be anything over 30 minutes so in my journey of around 45 I actually listened to the album and half of the aforementioned self titled album.Hawks & Doves was the tenth studio album by Neil Young. “Its two sides were recorded in different circumstances, side one being culled from sessions dating from approximately 1974 through 1977, and side two from sessions specifically for the album in early 1980. The record peaked at #30 on the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart in December 1980 in the US. It is also one of Young’s shortest albums, its running time just under half an hour.(wikipedia)” Its good I think to listen to different music genres as diversity can open different doors and get you thinking in a different way to just your normal thought pattern.
Why is Diversity Important?
The globalized world of today finds an amalgamation of different cultures, all brought into one common place, which is what diversity is. Diversity teaches us to accept differences in others and look beyond the base emotions of language, culture, race and color- all that makes us racists or sexists, for example. Diversity finds its origin in the word diverse, meaning different. Difference in what? Difference in basically anything – cultures, ideas, values, lifestyles, classes, goals etc. No two people placed side by side will portray the same sets of values or ideals or any of the other factors mentioned above. Take a group of people and the diversity range will further broaden. Diversity does not mean divide, mind you. It just means a difference, which is essential in today’s times.
